The Institute of Governmental Studies is sad to announce the passing of Senator Charles H. Percy. Senator Percy was known for his entrepreneurial business skills, taking over the leadership of Bell & Howell, a major technology firm, at 29 years of age, and for his leadership in the US Senate, in which he served 18 years. IGS is honored to be the home of the Charles H. Percy Undergraduate Grant for Public Affairs Research. IGS is accepting donations to honor the Senator and to help sustain the Percy Grant program.
Profile of Senator Charles H. Percy
The Charles H. Percy Undergraduate Grant for Public Affairs Research is made possible by a generous donation from Bill and Patrice Brandt. Patrice Bugelas-Brandt joined Senator Percy's Chicago Senate office in 1973 and served as his Illinois press secretary from 1974 to 1977. Bill Brandt is a member of the IGS National Advisory Board. They wish to honor Senator Percy’s career achievements in business and politics with this grant.
