RELEASE # 69 SUBJECT: |
San Francisco -- The California Supreme Court today announced it will hear oral argument in the reapportionment case of Wilson v. Eu, S022835, on Monday, January 13, starting at 9 a.m., in the Supreme Court Courtroom, 303 Second Street, South Tower, Fourth Floor, San Francisco.
At this special session, the Supreme Court will hear argument on the reapportionment report and recommended congressional, legislative, and Board of Equalization districts submitted to the court by the Special Masters on November 29.
The Supreme Court urges parties and other interested persons to submit briefs or comments in response to the Special Masters' report and recommended districts by Monday, December 16, to assure they will be considered by the court prior to argument on January 13.
The Special Masters filed their report with the Supreme Court on November 29 pursuant to an earlier order of the court. The report was filed following a series of public hearings throughout California "to permit the presentation of evidence and argument with respect to proposed plans of reapportionment."
The court has previously indicated its intent to file its opinion by January 28, 1992, a deadline suggested by the Secretary of State.
