William E. Grayson, Esq. is a senior advisor at Bernstein Global Wealth Management in San Francisco where he provides wealthy families, their trusts, endowments and foundations and senior corporate executives with sophisticated planning and investment advice. Previously, Bill was President of Falcon Point Capital, LLC, a SEC registered investment advisor and hedge fund management firm where he was responsible for marketing, investor relations, operations, and legal, regulatory and compliance matters. Previously, Bill was a Vice President of J.P. Morgan in San Francisco, where he provided investment advice to executives, family offices, hedge funds, endowments and foundations. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Bill was a Vice President of Montgomery Securities/Banc of America Securities where he performed similar duties.
Bill also practiced law for ten years in corporate, law firm and government settings. He was the chief legal officer of a global food, cosmetic and vitamin company in Los Angeles, a litigator in a San Francisco law firm, and served as the Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Army in Washington D.C. during the first Bush Administration. While in the Pentagon he had oversight of the Army's 2700 civilian and military lawyers worldwide and focused on regulatory law, mergers & acquisitions, personnel, litigation and defense contracting issues. For his service, he was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal by the Secretary of the Army.
Bill graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory, received his BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his law degree from the University of San Francisco. His clerkships include the California Court of Appeals, the United States Attorney's Office, the General Counsel of the Navy's Office in Washington D.C., and the District Attorney's Office in San Diego.
Bill has served on numerous investment committees including the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C., (part of the Smithsonian Institution) and as a trustee and investment committee chairman of Dominican University. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Bay Area Discovery Museum; the President's Commission on White House Fellowships and in 2008 was nominated by the President to serve on the Internal Revenue Service Oversight Board.
Bill is a regular TV commentator on investing and the markets and speaks frequently at investment conferences worldwide. He is a member of the California State Bar and holds his Series 7, 31 and 66 securities licenses. Bill, his wife Laurie, and their three daughters reside in San Francisco. Bill is a member of the Metropolitan Club in Washington, D.C., the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, MD, the Bohemian Club and Villa Taverna Club in San Francisco, and the Tiburon Peninsula Club.
