ROBERT W. NAYLOR
Robert
W. Naylor has been active in politics and government since the time he
was editor of the Stanford Daily in 1964. A native of Nevada, Mr.
Naylor graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in 1966 and
later from Yale Law School. He served as a Lieutenant in the United
States Army, including service in Vietnam.
Mr. Naylor was first elected to the California State Legislature in 1978 to represent the states 20th Assembly District, which included the southern half of San Mateo County. In 1982, Mr. Naylor was elected Assembly Republican Leader, a post he retained for three years.
As Assembly Republican Leader. Mr. Naylor was one of the chief architects of legislation linking increased public school funding to landmark educational reforms and was a major advocate for policies that foster economic growth and a leader in balancing the state budget within existing revenues.
Prior to his election to the California Legislature, Mr. Naylor was an attorney, specializing in tax and political reform law.
After leaving the California State Assembly, Mr. Naylor was elected Chairman of the California Republican Party. serving for two years through the election and inauguration of George H.W. Bush as President. Mr. Naylor was appointed by President Bush to the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation, serving from 1991 to 1995, served as Chairman of the Association for California Tort Reform, is Vice Chair of the Stanford Mansion Foundation and was a founding director of Calnet Business Bank in Sacramento. Mr. Naylor has been a delegate to ten Republican National Conventions. He is currently a partner in the law firm of Nielsen, Merksamer, Parrinello. Mueller & Naylor specializing in government law.
Mr. Naylor is married to Linda Kasem, has two daughters, Karen and Kristen, and lives in Encino.
