The John Gardner Fellowship selects six Fellows during the spring semester from among the graduating classes at UC Berkeley and Stanford University and provides each a $27,500 stipend to work in the governmental or nonprofit organization that most closely fits their public sector interests. Past fellows have been placed at the Department of State, the Council of Economic Advisers, and the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center. Fellows are matched with a senior-level mentor during their 10-month fellowship. The goal of the John Gardner Fellowship is to encourage UC Berkeley’s and Stanford’s best students to pursue a career in public service.
