Cal-in-Sacramento Summer Reception Draws Big Crowd
Legislators, leading state administrators and others gathered near the Capitol for the annual Cal-in-Sacramento summer reception, celebrating the Matsui Center program that each year places more than 30 Berkeley students in internships among California's leaders.
Sen. Henry Stern, who graduated from the Berkeley Law School, spoke to the students, referring to the critical role that the University plays in providing the state's future leaders with access to top-notch educational opportunities.
Other legislators who attended the event included Sen. Steve Glazer, Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, and Assemblymember Monique Limon, all of whom have Cal-in-Sacramento students interning in their offices this year. Also attending was former Assemblymember Roger Dickinson.
The event was co-sponsored by the Matsui Center with the Cal Alumni Association and the UC-Berkeley Office of Government and Community Relations.
