Earlier this year, IGS Graduate Fellows David Broockman and Josh Kalla discovered that the research used in one of last year's largest political science experiments was fraudulent. The study, "When contact changes minds: An experiment on transmission of support for gay equality," published in Science Magazine, showed that a single conversation between a gay person and a person who did not support gay marriage could change that non-supporter into a supporter with lasting effects. The data used by the study's author, Michael LaCour, ended up being faked.
