Jason Marmol Cedillos

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2026 Cal-in-Sacramento
Bio/CV:

Jason Marmol Cedillos is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Berkeley studying political science and public policy. A low-income, first generation student from the San Fernando Valley, Jason has been deeply influenced by his upbringing as a son of Salvadoran immigrants. His experiences have motivated him to pursue a political career to uplift marginalized communities on issues pertaining to economic, social, and political inequalities.

Through their time at Berkeley, Jason has shown a passion for community advocacy to serve the same marginalized communities they come from. Jason is currently the Internal Executive for the Raices Recruitment and Retention Center, part of the bridges Multicultural center. Raices has worked for 55 years to recruit and retain first-gen, Latine-identifying students to aspire for and succeed in higher education. Jason oversees a cohort of over 200 interns, fellows, and staff serving thousands of UCB undergrads and k-12 students across the state.

Additionally, Jason has also served as the co-president of United Nations Association of Berkeley for the 24-25 academic year. Jason represented Berkeley’s chapter at the National Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C in 2024, where he lobbied congressional representatives to support fully funding the United Nations and the importance of working towards a more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable future.

Jason is excited to work as a Cal-in-Sacremento 2026 Fellow, hoping to focus their research on the socioeconomic effects of public transportation accessibility for low-income communities. Grounded by his community, Jason is committed to returning to the San Fernando Valley as a fierce advocate for marginalized and underserved communities.
