Bio/CV:
Justine Garcia is a student at UC Berkeley majoring in Political Science and minoring in Public Policy on a Pre-Law track. Justine recognizes the privileges she has access to: housing, college preparatory education, and food security. These basic needs though remain out of reach for far too many, due to the deep inequities in the American system. This awareness fuels her passion for transforming these privileges into rights and advancing equity through policy and the law.
She is particularly interested in education accessibility, healthcare, reproductive freedom, and affordable housing. Justine hopes to serve as a public defender or policymaker in the future, continuing her commitment to expanding justice and opportunity for others.
In every role, she has held, whether as a Legal Access Intern at JusticeCorps, an intern for Congressman Ro Khanna’s District Office, and now, an intern for Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi's District Office, she is driven by a passion for serving others and improving their access to representation and equity.
Justine is extremely excited and beyond grateful to continue exploring her passion for public service through the Schaeffer Fellowship.
