UCDC Spring 2025: The Opportunity to Experience D.C.

March 18, 2025

I am currently interning at Crossroads Campaign Solutions, where I’m gaining hands-on experience in political campaign strategy and digital communications. My day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with social media outreach, conducting research on political trends, and drafting content for client campaigns. I’ve also had the opportunity to participate in strategy meetings, where I learn about the decision-making processes behind key campaign tactics.

Living and working in Washington, D.C., has been an incredible experience so far. Being surrounded by a diverse group of UC students at the UC Washington Center has been both inspiring and eye-opening. It’s fascinating to exchange perspectives with students from different backgrounds while exploring the city’s rich political and cultural landscape. I’ve found that there are endless opportunities to network and engage with professionals in the field, from attending coffee chats to joining seminars hosted by various organizations. These experiences have given me valuable insights into my future career.

A memorable moment that stands out was when I visited the National Monuments on the first snowfall of the year. Standing in front of landmarks like the US Capitol, White House, Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, it was hard not to feel a sense of awe and connection to the history they represent. D.C. is full of these historical sites, and I try to visit them whenever I can. Living in D.C. has allowed me to explore beyond Capitol Hill. One of my favorite memories has been my visit to New York, where I got to explore Times Square, the Empire State Building, Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty to name a few. I had the opportunity to try their famous New York style pizza and bagels at some of the most iconic restaurants.

In terms of career advice, I’ve been fortunate to receive some valuable insights from mentors in the legal and political sphere. One piece of advice that stuck with me was to always stay curious and take every opportunity to learn, even if it seems outside your immediate job description.

I’m especially excited to see the cherry blossom trees bloom in the coming weeks! It’s one of those quintessential D.C. experiences, and I can’t wait to enjoy the beauty of the city when it’s in full bloom. All in all, my experience in D.C. has been enriching both personally and professionally, and I look forward to making the most of my remaining time here.
