Katrina Michelle Villacisneros

 Katrina is a fourth-year transfer student at the University of California, Berkeley studying Global Studies with a concentration in Peace and Conflict. While at Berkeley, she served as an open source investigator at the Berkeley Law Human Rights Center, a teaching assistant for Beginning and Intermediate Filipino classes, and a mentor within the Pilipinx community. She received the Summer 2018 Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship where she studied Advanced Filipino with a focus on cultural indigenous elements on Northern Luzon (Cordilleras) at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Katrina is interested in human rights with a focus on indigenous rights, women’s rights, and labor rights. Her involvements include participating in the Standing Rock movement, lobbying for the California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (AB 241 and SB 1015), and attending indigenous ceremonies with international wisdom keepers. She loves to travel with her family and learn different languages and instruments in her spare time. Katrina plans to study and intern in Geneva, Switzerland through the University of Geneva Global Studies program in Spring and Summer 2020.
