Laura Lim is a third-year student at the University of California, Berkeley, studying Political Economy with an emphasis in Financial Economics. Her work is dedicated to promoting equity and visibility in education for underrepresented communities and grassroots advocacy. Working with her alma mater, she helped design and execute the Scratch’s Supplies pilot program, which provides free school supplies for low-income students and their families, which constitutes 52% of the student body. She’s also worked with Students Demand Action through annual voter registration drives and organizing outreach to community partners for mutual aid during the COVID pandemic. Besides her public service work, Laura also has experience in data collection and management, working with UC Berkeley’s Destination College Advising Corps & Early Academic Outreach Program to consolidate and verify multi-year program participation data for over 45 high school partners in the Bay Area. She is currently seeking opportunities such as congressional internships or at organizations like the ACLU to prioritize and uplift communities in need through research-based public advocacy and campaign efforts.
