Lizbeth Ortiz is a fourth-year student studying Legal Studies and Cognitive Science, with a minor in Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Passionate about civil equity and justice, particularly within criminal, disability, and immigration justice, she is deeply committed to advancing systemic change through community-centered and policy-driven work. Through her experiences with organizations such as Prison Radio, East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, and the Associated Students of the University of California, Lizbeth has developed strong skills in legal writing, advocacy and policy reform. Her work has focused on amplifying marginalized voices directly impacted by the criminal legal and immigration systems.She seeks opportunities within nonprofit organizations and public service roles that prioritize reform of the criminal legal system, as well as positions within the Civil Division focused on immigration and disability rights. Drawing from her lived experience as a disabled individual and her academic background, Lizbeth approaches advocacy with empathy and commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is able to effectively engage with diverse communities.
