Bailey Henderson is a junior studying Political Science and Global Studies. He was born and raised in Tracy, CA right outside of the bay area where he first experienced how politics disproportionately affects those in his community. Coming from a small town in the valley, he understands how the issues of those on the periphery can often be neglected and ignored by those in power, especially at the state level. He is most passionate about issues of education, affordable housing, and criminal justice reform.
In the past, Bailey has worked at many state and local level opportunities, including the district office of former Assemblymember David Chiu where he did research and writing assignments on issues ranging from climate change to workers rights and learned how legislation is really negotiated on a state level. Currently, he works as the Federal Government Relations Director for the ASUC, supporting the advocacy work of several different student communities. Bailey hopes to work, this summer, in an office focused on making law and policy more equitable across California to protect the rights (housing, labor, etc.) of our most underserved communities.
