Britnee Stephen is a fourth-year, double majoring in African-American Studies and Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Passionate about disability justice, she has spent the last three years as a caseworker, supporting students facing disability injustices and discrimination on campus with the Associated Students of the University of California’s (ASUC) Student Advocate’s Office. Britnee now serves as the Student Advocate, an executive elected position within the ASUC. She oversees an office of 75 caseworkers and offers help and advice to any student involved in a dispute with the University. Britnee also has experience in peer-to-peer advising, serving as an academic peer adviser with UC Berkeley's College of Letters & Science, and policy making, as she is currently working with UC Berkeley administration to implement the university’s first bereavement accommodation policy. Additionally, she helped raise $30,000 to support undocumented students on campus. She seeks opportunities at organizations like the ODR and the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Disability Committee to contribute to policies that work towards disability justice.
