Catherine is a first-generation Taiwanese-American student at UC Berkeley, majoring in Political Economy with minors in Data Science and Public Policy. Catherine’s interest in public service, particularly in advocating for children and families navigating legal challenges, stems from her personal experiences coming from a struggling, low-income, single-parent, immigrant household that has experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, and divorce. Witnessing the emotional and financial toll on her family, she became determined to assist others in similar situations.
Aside from being involved in political campaigns, she has organized social justice workshops, volunteered at food banks, and tutored younger students, aiming to make a tangible difference in her community. She has also conducted research for the Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP) and California’s Racial Justice Act (RJA). On campus, Catherine is involved in numerous clubs, including Phi Alpha Delta, Myriad Legal Consulting, Ascend Berkeley, Lunar Consulting, and Matriculate.
Catherine wants to become a voice for the voiceless and work to create positive change. Her goal is to become a family law attorney, providing pro bono services to support vulnerable families who may not be able to afford legal assistance.
