Dylan Lucks

Job title:
Class of 2028
Department:
2026 Cal-in-Sacramento
Bio/CV:

Dylan Lucks is a student at UC Berkeley majoring in Political Economy and Legal Studies.

Born and raised in Oakland, Dylan grew up around community organizing efforts focused on addressing societal inequities. These experiences shaped his belief in data-driven policymaking and a commitment to public service.

Dylan's policy interests center on using government resources to fund proven, data-backed solutions to challenges such as homelessness, housing, and public safety. As a Policy Research Intern in the Oakland Mayor's office, he analyzed reforms to streamline permitting in Oakland to spur business development and incentivize housing development. At the District Office of State Senator Nancy Skinner, he supported constituent services and bill tracking, gaining firsthand insight into how budgets and implementation determine effective policy outcomes.

On campus, Dylan serves as Chief of Staff to the ASUC Vice President of Academic Affairs, working to expand student representation in key administrative decisions. He has also collaborated with the City of Berkeley to identify policies that foster and retain entrepreneurs. He is also supporting a Berkeley professor through the Undergraduate Research Apprentice program to identify policy methods for tracking data to evaluate performance outcomes from recent California housing legislation.

Dylan hopes to deepen his understanding of how ideas move through the legislative process – from concept development to enactment and execution by the Governor’s office. He plans to pursue a career in public service focused on delivering practical, results-oriented solutions for his community's most pressing challenges.
