Gwen Tam

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2025 Washington Fellowship - Fall
Bio/CV:

Gwen Tam is first-generation, Chinese-Vietnamese transfer student at UC Berkeley majoring in political science. A Bay Area native, Gwen’s passion for politics and policy comes from watching their own community, family, and diaspora struggle to survive in a system that did not serve them to the best of its ability. Their love for public service is something that was ultimately shaped by a love for their people. They want to work in the intersection of communications and policy in a position that would allow them to grant their community a voice where they were denied one before.

Gwen has previously worked at Congressman Swalwell’s district office as a Congressional Intern, and as a Communications Intern at Ohlone College Career Center. They have also held roles as Legislative Representative, Senator, and Director of Publications with the Associated Students of Ohlone College.

They are honored to have been chosen as a Matsui Center Washington Fellow for the Fall 2025 Semester and are looking forward to learning more about the world and themselves as they navigate their journey in Washington, DC.
