Jason Su is a student at UC Berkeley studying integrative human biology with a minor in global studies focused on Asia. Raised by two immigrant parents in the inland empire, Jason has witnessed the struggles within the immigrant community in accessing affordable and equitable healthcare.
Jason is interested in access to care for underserved and immigrant communities, as well as research involving oral health. In summer 2025, Jason interned at the International Rescue Committee in Oakland, where he helped connect refugees and asylum seekers to social service programs, and provided interpretation for Mandarin speakers. Jason represented the IRC at the California Department of Social Services’ Afghan Support Center in Oakland, where he helped connect newcomers with local healthcare services. He is currently involved in research both at Berkeley and Loma Linda University, working under Dr. Tseng to uncover predictors for chronic jaw pain, and under the Center for Dental Research to review manuscripts for dental policy papers.
In the future, Jason hopes to be able to conduct research on public policy addressing healthcare access within California. He looks forward to his time as a Cal-in-Sacramento fellow and is excited to learn more in the state capital.
