Class of 2027
Department:
2026 Schaeffer Fellowship
Bio/CV:

Kiara Price is a pre-law student pursuing a double major in both Political Science and African American Studies with an emphasis on prison reform. Growing up in a systems-impacted household in Orange, California, she quickly developed a deep passion for engaging with her community in meaningful and tangible ways.

At UC Berkeley, Kiara has found herself constantly drawn to leadership, research, and advocacy at the intersection of law and social change. She has held key roles within ASUC Student Government, serving as Co-Deputy Executive and Chief of Staff, where she worked to support students both on and off campus. Kiara also mentors high school students through both the Incarceration to College program and the Berkeley Black Student Collaboratory, strengthening her belief in education as a tool for liberation and opportunity. Beyond campus, she interned with Emily’s List, supporting efforts to elect pro-choice Democratic women to all levels of government across the nation.

Kiara is a VèVè A. Clark Scholar in the African American Studies Department and an Undergraduate Researcher in the Justice Interaction Lab, where she investigates conditions of confinement and abuse within Northern California jails. Kiara hopes to pursue a career as a civil rights lawyer, ultimately working in legislation to create lasting change while also supporting the reentry and reeducation of formerly incarcerated individuals.
