Matt Middlebrook leads Policy for Airbnb’s Real Estate team overseeing government affairs and policy work in the company’s newly launched efforts to partner with multi-family building owners to make hosting more accessible for hosts nationwide.  Middlebrook previously led the company’s government affairs efforts for the western US.    

Before joining Airbnb, Middlebrook was Executive Vice President for Development for Caruso, one of the largest privately held real estate development projects.  Under his leadership, the company entitled more than $1 billion in new luxury retail and residential projects.  Earlier in his career, he served as primary spokesperson and speechwriter for Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn. Under his guidance, and as Hahn's political campaign manager, he led efforts to successfully elect Hahn as mayor. He served as Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles for Policy and Communications under Mayor Hahn, developing policy and communication strategies to advance the mayor's agenda.  Middlebrook previously served as Deputy State Director for US Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Mr. Middlebrook serves on the board of SF Travel, and previously was President of the Board of Directors for the non-profit tutoring program 826 Valencia, leading its capital campaign to open its Tenderloin center.  Middlebrook received his BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley.
