Suzy Wilson is a Cal grad and lawyer whose career has focused on a range of intellectual property matters, with a focus on copyright and new technologies. Most recently, from 2022 through March 2025, Suzy Wilson was the General Counsel and Associate Register of Copyrights for the United States Copyright Office in Washington, DC. In that role, she was responsible for a broad portfolio of regulatory, litigation, and federal policy matters related to the implementation and administration of the Copyright Act and Title 17.
Prior to the Copyright Office, Ms. Wilson worked both in-house and in private practice, including as deputy general counsel for The Walt Disney Company, overseeing the company’s intellectual property and interactive and media legal functions. Prior to her work at Disney, Suzy was in private practice at a Los Angeles law firm. She earned her JD from Harvard Law School and her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley. After law school, she clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Before attending law school, Ms. Wilson worked on Capitol Hill as a congressional staff member.
