Tacy Tran

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2026 Pathways to Federal Public Service
Bio/CV:

Tacy Tran is a fourth-year Political Science major at the University of California, Berkeley, with a minor in Human Rights Interdisciplinary. Her interest in public service stems from early experiences navigating legal and insurance systems for her family, which revealed the power imbalances between large corporations and the working class. While interning at the El Monte District Attorney’s Office, Tacy’s assistance in trials provided her with firsthand insight into how resource disparities shape legal decisions in low-income communities. She serves as the University Affairs Executive in the Associated Students of the University of California Office of the Transfer Representative, where she works on initiatives addressing food insecurity and expanding access to public goods such as CalFresh for transfer students. These experiences shaped her belief that while corporations can harm the public, they also have the potential to advance public welfare when properly regulated. Tacy aspires to work at federal agencies, such as the Department of Commerce and the Federal Trade Commission, that focus on corporate social responsibility, ethical regulations, and protecting vulnerable communities.
