The Matsui Center is pleased to partner with the Leonard D. Schaeffer Fellows in Government Service program to support undergraduate students pursuing careers in government. Schaeffer Fellows complete 10-week, high-level summer internships at the local, state, and federal levels in order to develop an informed view of government service and operations.

Program Overview

  • Schaeffer Fellows independently apply for and secure a 10-week full-time government summer internship working with elected officials or government agencies at the local, state, or federal level.

  • During the summer, Fellows are paired with an alumni mentor, engage with professional development resources, and attend a professional conference in Washington, DC.

  • Fellows receive a $6,000 stipend to help with temporary relocation and living expenses.
