Student Assistant II

Pay: $18.07/hour, approximately 12 hours per week
Job Description:
The Institute of Governmental Studies is searching for a creative, detail oriented, and engaging, student assistant to support administrative operations and public relations projects and initiatives for the Institute. The Communications Student Assistant reports to the IGS Event and Communications Coordinator. The position provides administrative support for operational activities, including, processing Amazon book orders for the Berkeley Public Policy Printing Press, drafting copy for quarterly departmental newsletter and other email campaigns; drafting social media posts and engaging with our online audiences via SocialPilot, monitoring trending social media topics and analyzing data to support content strategy, organizing and maintaining digital archives and mailing lists, assisting with events, and other duties as assigned.

Exceptional spoken and written communication skills in English are required.

Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and similar applications.

A strong, engaging communicator that enjoys connecting with people.

Experience creating professional copy for newsletters and social media on behalf of public officials, brands, or organizations.

A passion for storytelling and developing strong brand identity through written and visual communications

Experience with graphic design via Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and/or Adobe Illustrator

Experience working with and organizing personal and sensitive information is a plus.

Proficiency with spoken and written communication skills in Spanish is a plus.
