Christopher Blu Lopez

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2025 Democracy Camp in Berkeley
Bio/CV:

Christopher Blu is a first-generation transfer student from San Jose, CA. He is majoring in Political Science with a specialization in American Politics and minoring in Political Economy. Adopted at the age of 1 and raised primarily by his grandmother, his experiences of being a low-income and former foster youth have encouraged him to uplift communities, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunity and visibility.
Before transferring, he attended De Anza College. During his time, he was a senator for his student government, lobbied with assembly members and legislators in Sacramento regarding policies affecting community college students, and volunteered with local organizations to encourage voter participation in local elections.
Following this momentum, Christopher is an active student at UC Berkeley. His involvement in the ASUC Office of Transfer Student Representative as the Public Relations Executive allows him to build a stronger community for transfer students through social media. He’s also an active member of two clubs, the Latin American Leadership Society and Latine Pre-Law Society, where he, along with members, advocates and uplifts Latine-identifying students who are pursuing leadership roles and/or law, respectively. Starting in the spring, Christopher will also be interning for Berkeley Hope Scholars, a program that provides resources and community to students identifying as current or former foster youth, working in the Creative Community department.
Christopher plans to attend law school and, through Democracy Camp, continue his work in building community and equality for underrepresented communities on a local, state, and national level.
