Briana Avalos is a first-generation student at UC Berkeley, committed to equity, civic engagement, and community advocacy. She began community college during her junior year of high school and transferred to UC Berkeley in one year, earning multiple associate degrees. Raised in a low-income household by a single mother, Briana learned early on to view education as a tool for social change. At Berkeley, she serves on the ASUC Sexual Violence Commission and is the Undergraduate Director of Networking for Undergraduate Women in Law, where she works to expand access to mentorship and survivor-centered resources. Briana plans to attend law school and pursue a career advocating for individuals who lack access to legal support, with a particular focus on domestic violence and survivor advocacy. Through the Berkeley Democracy Camp Internship, she aims to deepen her understanding of policy, democracy, and community-based change.
