Danielle Mitchell (she/her)
Danielle Mitchell is a Fiat Lux scholar at the University of California, Berkeley studying Political Science. Coming from a first-generation background in Los Angeles, she developed an early interest in public policy and how national decisions shape the experiences of local communities.
Danielle is dedicated to building community and expanding access for Black students on campus. She serves as the President of the Black Pre-Law Association, where she leads initiatives focused on mentorship, professional development, and law school preparation for Black undergraduates. As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, she continues a legacy of supporting and uplifting Black women through scholarship, leadership, and service.
Her commitment to public policy and advocacy is strengthened by her role as a Research Assistant at the Institute of International Studies. For the past year, Danielle has supported the Director’s work by conducting archival analysis and contributing written research on the historical foundations of American governance and national decision-making.
Danielle is also a Democracy Camp alumna and now serves as the Student Director for the 2025–26 cohort, supporting outreach, programming, and student engagement. She is honored to join the Spring 2026 UCDC cohort, where she will complete academic coursework and a policy-focused internship in Washington, D.C.
Danielle looks forward to deepening her commitment to public service, research, and community-centered advocacy as she continues her academic and professional journey.
