Raised in a modest family of five, Juan Pablo Blanco is passionate about some of the most pressing issues confronting working-class Californians. As a senior studying political science at UC Berkeley, Juan Pablo is mental health advocate who recognizes the importance of empowering communities for students in college. At UC Berkeley, Juan Pablo founded Unbox’d, a mental health awareness organization that offers students mindfulness resources.
Juan Pablo plans to attend law school, work in-house counsel, and start an immigration law firm. Coming from an immigrant household, Juan Pablo witnessed how real-life inequalities play out for minorities. Moreover, he finds inspiration in his grandparents, whom he saw transition from fearful immigrants into proud Americans.
At the Berkeley Center for Law and Business, Juan Pablo works hands-on as an Undergraduate Fellow with Lunch Talks and Business Law Initiatives. Outside of academia, Juan Pablo enjoys watching sports (Go Steelers), playing guitar, and playing Intramural Flag Football. In Cal-in-Sacramento, Juan Pablo hopes to deepen his understanding of mental health policy and explore solutions to fight for women’s equity.
