Lauren Francisco

Job title:
Class of 2026
Department:
2023 Democracy Camp in Berkeley
Bio/CV:

Although born to Filipino immigrant nurses, Lauren’s professional interests could not be any more different. At a young age, she developed a passion for leadership, public speaking and public service, leading her to become an active member of her local LA community— spearheading an annual community Sock Drive amongst other passion projects. Curious about society’s relationship with the government, Lauren began exploring her interests as an intern for Speaker Anthony Rendon’s district office, where she took part in organizing a Youth Leadership program focusing on educating the youth of South-East LA—a program she once took part in. As a first year at UC Berkeley, Lauren is intending to major in Urban Studies with a minor in Public Policy. In addition, she explores her growing interest in education through UC Berkeley’s Asian and Asian American retention and recruitment center, REACH!, where she interns as a member of the OutREACH! Program, focusing on teaching underserved and underrepresented youth about postsecondary education. As a member of the OutREACH! team, Lauren co-leads programming such as campus tours, informational workshops for high school seniors, and most recently, visits to high schools around Southern California to help foster a desire for students to seek higher education.
