Lauryn Marcete Martin (she/they)
Nice to meet you! My name is Lauryn Marcete Martin, I grew up in Sacramento, California in a low-income household and I identify as a first-generation, African-American student. I am currently entering my third year at UC Berkeley, double-majoring in legal studies and African American studies with a minor in race and law. My interest areas include public health, policing and surveillance, criminal legal proceedings, and the intersectionality of race, gender, and law. I am particularly interested in the combination of these areas such as access to healthcare and mental wellness resources during and after incarceration. In my greater career, I aim to serve marginalized populations as a policy maker. Through producing equity-based policies which incorporate a diverse range of communities I plan to consider how intersectionality ties into the framework of effective policies.
