Pro/Con Statements

ProCon
Supporters say that Proposition 22 would stop the state from taking gas taxes voters have dedicated to transportation. Prop. 22 would protect local services such as 9-1-1 emergency response, police, fire, libraries, transit, and road repairs.
Opponents say public schools stand to lose billions of dollars if Prop. 22 passes. Prop. 22 would take money firefighters use to fight fires and natural disasters, while protecting redevelopment agencies and their developer friends.
