Dr. Meir Zadok

Dr. Meir Zadok has been Executive Director of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 1987. In that capacity, he has been  instrumental in promoting science and technology in Israel and, in particular, connecting that distinguished body of scholars and scientists with similar communities worldwide, such as the European Science Foundation.  Before assuming his current post, he served as a management and financial adviser to the Israel Ministry of Education. He was also head of the Department for Planning and Research and head of the Department of Budgeting and Finance at the Israel Council for Higher Education.  He was central in establishing the Israel Science Foundation with a current budget of over 200 million dollars. As a specialist in the economics of education and science policy, he has taught at the Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University and is published in his field.  Visiting appointments abroad include Berkeley and Harvard. Dr. Zadok has been awarded a special fellowship at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study at Uppsala which he will assume in the spring of this year. In 2011 he became a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He holds a B.A. from the Hebrew University and a Ph.D from Lancaster University  in the U.K.
