Kelly Jones is a recent graduate of the Berkeley Interdisciplinary Studies Field department where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with High Honors, winning the departmental citation for her research on language’s function in evoking inferences related to political worldview. Kelly’s professional background is in communication and development. Prior to joining the IGS staff, she coordinated events for private clients in San Francisco as well as for the public sector, fundraising for non-profits which provided at-risk youth with access to healthy food and nature. She also conducts interdisciplinary research on language and cognition with faculty in the linguistics department. With this research, she wishes to gain a deeper understanding of how conceptual metaphors and frames influence the polity’s understanding of the state and social issues.
