Cathleen Decker writes and edits national and state politics for the Los Angeles Times. She has covered nine presidential campaigns, seven races for governor, the state’s outlandish 2003 recall election, and a host of U.S. Senate and local elections. She now co-writes a California Politics column on Sundays with her colleague Mark Z. Barabak and is a regular contributor to The Times’ national Politics Now blog. A Long Beach native, she directed the 2012 presidential campaign and serves as deputy National editor.
