I graduated from Swarthmore College in 2003; between college and graduate school I taught high school math and led wilderness trips. Now, I'm interested in inequality, social policy, political economy, private governance, fair trade, development, American politics, and comparative politics.

My research focuses on political power and policy implementation: which political coalitions control policy, and how. I use a mix of methods, including quantitative empirical techniques, formal modeling, and ethnographic observation.
