Research Interests:
My research focuses on political power and policy implementation: which political coalitions control policy, and how. I use a mix of methods, including quantitative empirical techniques, formal modeling, and ethnographic observation.

I graduated from Swarthmore College in 2003; between college and graduate school I taught high school math and led wilderness trips.  Now, I'm interested in inequality, social policy, political economy, private governance, fair trade, development, American politics, and comparative politics.
